This is a really cool idea that Karen, my co-ML had, and I thought I'd tell all you nice people about it in case anyone wants to rip it off. Uh, I mean, borrow it! I take no credit for the concept - that's all Karen. (Canoegirl.) And Patrick (Pilpingto) is designing something awesome for them. I am just doing the printing.

Anyway. We are going to have punch cards this year. Every wrimo will get one at the first event they attend. On their punch cards, there will be a spot for each event - every event they attend gets a punch. (We're going to go pick up a cool punch. Or possibly three. These will be entitled the PUNCHES OF POWER. Yes, we are nerds.) There will be additional punch spots for each 10,000 words they complete. A spot for winning a word war. (Possibly several spots for this.) We're also going to put goals like met a new wrimo, or wrote 10,000 in a day, stuff like that. We'll also have a spot for each of the giveaway items so we know who got what.

The center of each card will have space for name (real and nano) and hopefully, depending on space, spots to write in how many years you've done nano, how many you've won, your novel's genre, title, etc.

Then, at the TGIO, we're going to have some awards based on the punch cards. Most events attended, fastest to each 10K marker, etc. Then they'll all get to keep their punch cards as a souvenir!

We're planning to hold onto their cards between events, so there is no "I forgot my card and can I have another sticker?" type stuff. I think it'll be really neat and hopefully serve as motivation - they'll want to get the next punch on their word count, win a word war punch, etc. I'll post some pictures once we get it finished up. Let me know if you want me to post the document somewhere once we've got it finished!
