As an ice-breaker: pass around index cards and pencils and have each person write a one-ish sentence summary of their novel. Pass to the left and have people who read that summary give their suggestions for plot twists. Repeat several times till the card is full then return to the original authors. This will then

• let people get to know each other through their novels
• give them some useful novel-specific plot twists to consider
